Apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, Don’t be Late

The EU Settlement Scheme Guidelines

Because of Brexit, EU (excluding British and Irish citizens), EEA or Swiss citizens need to apply to the EU settlement scheme if they wish to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.

• – Those with settled status will be allowed to stay in the UK as long as they like, and can spend up to five years in a row outside the UK without losing their status.
• – Those with pre-settled status are allowed to stay in the UK for a further five years, which would allow them to apply to convert it into settled status.
• – Guidelines state applicants will usually get settled status if you’ve lived in the UK for a continuous five-year period.
• – Pre-settled status will be granted to those who have not lived in the UK for five years, or cannot demonstrate that they meet this requirement.
• – The form is straightforward and easy to complete, just ensure you have your identification documents below.
  Prove Your Identity

You will need to prove your identity, when you apply so please make sure you have the following items:

• – An email address and phone number
• – Your current passport or national identity card, if you are a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national
• – Your current passport or UK residence card with a biometric chip, if you are not an EEA or Swiss national

Completing the Form

You can complete the form from any phone, a laptop or the App (only available on Android or iPhone 7 or above)- ‘EU Exit: ID Document Check’ OR you can send your ID documents in the post and upload your photo using the online application (you can take this yourself).
